Latisse

Latisse increases eyelash growth by increasing length, thickness and darkness.

Patients should have an eye exam before starting Latisse and yearly thereafter while on the medication. Patients with glaucoma, those on pressure lowering eye drops and those with a family history of glaucoma may require special attention.

The most common side effects are itching (4%), redness and irritation of the eyes and darkening of the skin around the eyes and is most likely reversible. Permanent darkening of the iris has been reported in patients taking Lumigan, which is a similar medicine used for glaucoma, but has not been reported in patients on Latisse.

Results are gradual with most patients noticing improvement by 2 months. Full results may be expected by 4 months. Continue to wear mascara, if desired, while using Latisse. Remove contact lenses before applying the medication.

Latisse has a cosmetic indication. Insurance will NOT pay for it and we will NOT write letters to insurance companies asking for a waiver. When Latisse is stopped, eyelashes will return to their previous appearance within 2-4 months.

Application: once nightly, clean your face and remove makeup and contact lenses.

Instructions for use:

  1. Remove an applicator from its tray. Holding the sterile applicator horizontally, place one drop of Latisse on the area of the applicator closest to but not on the tip.
  2. Immediately draw the applicator across the skin of the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes going from the inner part of the lash line to the outer part.
  3. Blot any excess solution beyond the eyelid margin.
  4. Dispose of the applicator and use a new sterile applicator for the other eye. This helps minimize any potential for contamination from one eyelid to the other.
  5. Do not treat the lower eyelids. The medication on the upper lids will be transferred to the lower lids. If medication gets into the eye, it should not cause any problems.

Lauren, our Surgical Counselor, used Latisse with fantastic results after just 8 weeks!
