Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Dr. DeRosa graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University and received his M.D. from New York Medical College. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Catholic Medical Center, Cornell University Medical School in 1986 and served in the Public Health Service at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He has been with CarlinVision since 1991.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Southern Medical Association and the New York Academy of Sciences.

His professional interests are in cataract surgery and glaucoma.

He is married to Mondra and has four children — Brigit, twins Mark and Michael, and John. His interests outside of Ophthalmology center around tennis and coaching children in basketball and baseball.
