Blade Free — Our PREFERRED LASIK!
During Lasik, a partial thickness flap is created in the cornea (the clear covering over the colored part of the eye). Traditionally made with a mechanical microkeratome using a vibrating blade, we prefer to use a computer controlled cool femtosecond laser for the following reasons:
- Greater safety: 10 times more than bladed Lasik
- Greater comfort: both during and after the procedure
- Superior biomechanics: cornea is left stronger
- Thinner flap: able to treat people with thin corneas
Blade free Lasik is the only Lasik approved by the U.S. navy for fighter pilots and astronauts. We prefer blade free because we want the best for CarlinVision patients!
