Which lens do I choose?
All three pemium lenses will provide good distant vision. ReStor® (multifocal) provides the best near vision with some compromise of intermediate vision. Tecnis™ (multifocal) provides better intermediate vision but not as crisp near vision. Crystalens® (accommodating) has the lowest incidence of glare, haloes and starbursts so is best for night driving; provides better intermediate vision, but not as crisp near vision. The differences will be discussed with you by your doctor so he can pick the best premium lens or combination of lenses for your particular needs.

Will premium lenses eliminate glasses completely for everyone?
Not everyone. Studies have shown that 90% of patients will not wear glasses after their surgery. Most of the other 10% will wear glasses only occasionally.

What are the risks?
The main risk is glare. About 5% of patients report glare around car headlights or streetlights at night. Though most will find it is not bothersome and gets better with time, this might be a concern for truck drivers or airplane pilots. Other risks include those common to all cataract surgeries

What if my uncorrected vision is not as clear as I would like?
Because of pre-existing astigmatism or inherent variables in the procedure, the power may need to be fine-tuned. If so, you may elect to proceed with Lasik afterwards or you may choose to wear glasses or contact lenses.

Will the results of the procedure last?
Yes! The premium lens will not degrade or change over time so your vision should remain stable unless, of course, some other medical condition occurs.

Will insurance pay for these lenses?
No, it will not. While Medicare and other insurance companies will pay for your cataract surgery they will not pay the extra costs for the premium lenses. Procedures such as a refractive lens exchange or the use of premium lens implants are considered refractive surgical procedures and are non-covered by all the major insurance companies. The cost of the premium lens and the associated extra tests and services will be your responsibility.

Is financing available?
Yes! Our office can arrange financing for you. We offer a variety of options including no-interest or extended plans with low monthly payments.
