About Dr. Casey O’Shea

Dr. Casey O’Shea is an ophthalmologist at CarlinVision in Snellville, Georgia, bringing advanced training in refractive surgery and comprehensive eye care to patients throughout Gwinnett County and the greater Atlanta area. A native of Michigan, Dr. O’Shea brings an exceptionally strong academic and research foundation to her clinical practice — including dual graduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering and a medical degree from one of the country’s leading academic institutions.
Dr. O’Shea earned both her B.S.E. and M.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor — graduating Cum Laude — before going on to complete her M.D. at the University of Michigan Medical School in 2017. She completed her transitional year internship at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan, followed by her ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, finishing in 2021. During her training, she conducted research, contributed to multiple published studies, and delivered presentations in her field — building a scholarly record that reflects her commitment to evidence-based eye care.
Dr. O’Shea’s academic honors include the Edward P. and Kathryn M. Bellas Scholarship — awarded to fourth-year medical students matching into ophthalmology — and the University of Michigan Regents Scholarship. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Women in Ophthalmology.
Dr. O’Shea is certified on some of the most advanced laser vision correction platforms available, including the VISX® Star S4 IR Excimer Laser, IntraLase® Femtosecond Laser, iDesign® Refractive Studio, Femto LDV™, and the Zeimer® Z8 LDV femtosecond laser — equipping her to provide patients in Snellville and Gwinnett County with access to the latest LASIK and laser refractive surgery technology.
Outside the office, Dr. O’Shea is married to TJ, a dentist, and is the proud mother of three children — Emmett, Hayden, and Hunter. She enjoys sports, running, cooking, and animal welfare.
Dr. Carlin is a highly experienced, board-certified ophthalmologist and Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology with more than five decades of experience in vision care and surgical innovation. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan before serving in the United States Navy in Key West, Florida. In 1977, he founded CarlinVision and has since built a longstanding reputation for excellence in LASIK, cataract surgery, refractive procedures, and cosmetic eyelid surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Carlin has completed more than 11,000 procedures and remains at the forefront of advanced laser and refractive technologies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an active member of multiple leading professional organizations, reflecting his enduring commitment to clinical excellence and patient care.
