Cataract IOL Packages

When a cataract is removed, a clear intraocular lens (IOL) is placed into the eye to restore vision. At CarlinVision in Snellville, Georgia, we offer three excellent premium lens options designed to fit your unique lifestyle, visual goals, and long-term needs. Whether you want complete freedom from glasses or simply the best possible distance vision, our experienced cataract surgeons will help you choose the right IOL package. The best lens is the one that most enhances your particular way of life.

Understanding Intraocular Lenses and Why the Right Choice Matters

Cataracts cause the natural lens of the eye to become cloudy, leading to blurry vision, difficulty with night driving, sensitivity to glare, and faded colors. Cataract surgery removes this cloudy lens and replaces it with a clear artificial lens called an intraocular lens implant. The IOL you choose will directly determine how well you see at various distances after surgery, so taking the time to understand your options is one of the most important steps in the process.

At CarlinVision, our surgical counselors and ophthalmologists take a thorough, personalized approach to help each patient understand which IOL package best matches their vision correction goals, daily activities, and overall health of the eye.

Standard Package

The Standard Package is the best option for the individual who does not mind wearing glasses for distance and for near after cataract surgery.

Pre-operative testing includes measurements of the curvature and length of the eye. The surgical procedure includes the insertion of a standard lens implant. Post-operative care includes a prescription for eyeglasses.

The cataract procedure and one pair of eyeglasses is a covered service under most insurance plans. This package provides reliable, safe cataract removal with a quality standard lens, making it a practical choice for patients whose lifestyle comfortably accommodates glasses use.

Advanced Refractive Package

The Advanced Refractive Package is the best option for the individual who would like to achieve his or her best distant vision without glasses but would be willing to wear reading glasses, or for the individual who would like monovision correction (one eye focused for distance and the other for near).

Pre-operative testing includes measurement of the curvature and length of the eye, measurement of the shape and thickness of the cornea, measurement of the size of the pupil in normal and dim light, Wavescan evaluation with calculation of the eye’s higher order aberrations as needed, and tests to determine the eye’s tear production. The surgical procedure includes insertion of a standard, aspheric, or toric (astigmatism correcting) lens implant, along with astigmatism correction procedures if appropriate. Post-operative care includes temporary punctal plugs for dry eyes, further astigmatism correction procedures if appropriate, and laser vision correction (LASIK or PRK) as needed. LASIK enhancements are included for a period of 12 months following cataract surgery.

The cataract procedure is a covered service under most insurance plans. The premium lens itself is not covered by insurance and will be your responsibility.

Premium IOL Package

The Premium IOL Package is the best option for the individual who would like to be able to see distance and near without glasses after cataract surgery.

The surgical procedure includes the insertion of a premium lens implant along with astigmatism correction procedures, if appropriate. Post-operative care includes temporary punctal plugs for dry eyes as necessary, further astigmatism correction procedures if appropriate, and laser vision correction (LASIK or PRK) as needed. LASIK enhancements are included for a period of 12 months following cataract surgery.

The cataract procedure is a covered service under most insurance plans. The premium lens itself is not covered by insurance and will be your responsibility.
